Both Curlewis’ Junior teams ventured to East Geelong on Sunday 15th in typical Spring weather, the course was in good condition and the opponents lovely.  All juniors played exceptionally well against much older and bigger opposition.

Team 1 results: Loss 3/2

Cooper, playing his first match for Curlewis, hitting off the green tee’s and smiling along the way achieved a goal he’d set, winning several holes and venturing to the 15th, to finish 4/3 down.

Josh, off the green tee’s, for his first pennant experience really enjoyed the match play format and is looking forward to gaining more experience and representing his club.  Finishing 3/2 down.

Max, off the white tee’s, had a close encounter all day, capitalising on some of the mistakes of his opponent and sinking a putt off the green on the 15th (a hole he shouldn’t of won!) pumped up, he then went on to win 3/2.

Paige, off the white tee’s, giving 12 shots, demolished her much older opponent with an all round steady game, 7/6.

Aidan had a tough task, having to give a shot on every hole, was 4 down with 8 to play, but never gave up and clawed his way back, nearly driving the 12th green to set up an easy birdie, and getting so close to a miraculous win.  3/1

Team 2 results: Loss 3.5/1.5

Ryder in his first pennant match playing off the green tee’s played a much older and stronger opponent, yet pushed him to the 18th hole to finish 1 down.  The day was a very positive experience, increasing his confidence leading into upcoming games.

Will, playing his first pennant match, hitting off the white tee’s was really happy with his recovery shots (shots played after a poor shot), loving the match play format and benefiting from the generosity of a free round at East Geelong, he cleaned up with a 8/6 win.

Chelsea played a hard fought match with a much older opponent, all square after 18.  Great consistent golf played.

Sam (10) our resident pocket rocket, held his much older opponent well through the first 9 holes with great work from tee to green, but went down eventually 6/4.

Noah, giving 4 shots, fought a neck and neck match all day, fantastic golf was seen by both players but unfortunately Noah lost 3/2.

This coming Sunday 22nd October, both teams are playing at Curlewis with tee off at 10.30 through to 11.25am.  If interested, please do come along and support our fantastic Juniors.
