“Pin High”golf writer in Geelong Advertiser after playing the course in January 1971 wrote ä Course of Many Moods” The strength of winds can be docile as a lamb or a veritable monster. The views will delight all golfers he wrote. With its undulating fairways Curlewis places a premium on placement of tee shot.

An enormous amount of work faced the committee and members with regard to development and refinement of the course. Provision of buildings and amenities for social events.

The first stage of clubhouse completed in July 1971.Members donating furniture. Stage 2 completed 1976.

The club continued to progress as planned with the quality of the course gaining reputation in the Geelong District and favourable reports in Victorian and Australian Golf magazines.

Did you know Ivor Chappell (Life Member) was runner up in the first  Club Championship

Membership rose by 15% per year on average.

In those early years an important part of fostering club atmosphere was the growing social activities. Lady members consistently received high praise for their fundraising projects and voluntary help.
