Curlewis teams have been heading off in all directions, in the last week or two, with the Bowl season in full swing.
Two teams off to Queen’s Park, three teams to Barwon Heads, another four teams in action at Queenscliff and, lastly, two at Anglesea’s Irish 4BBB. Quite a mix of results has ensued from all this activity and, importantly, a great deal of enjoyment – if not in our golf performance, certainly in the social side of the days. Up to now, in 2025, we’ve seen 16 teams participating in District Bowls, with a total of 29 individual players enthusiastically supporting these events (some of the keenest featuring two, three and four times). Fantastic!
Not much new to report this time. I’ll quickly remind you of the events I outlined last newsletter, and add a couple more coming up in early April.
Remember from our last newsletter, March events include:
Monday, March 10 – BIRREGURRA 2-PERSON AMBROSE
Monday, March 24 – THE SANDS WOMEN’S CHALLENGE CUP
Tuesday, March 25 – COLAC 3BBB
These are all on our timesheet, waiting for teams to be added.
And on into April – Birregurra GC is extending another invitation our way to enter into their Joyce Farquharson Rose Bowl. It’s for teams of 3, $75 per team, and is limited to two teams per club (I know one Curlewis team has already entered).

Now, just a little aside – not about Bowls, but about our own Curlewis Irish 4BBB coming up on Thursday, April 10th. There will be more details about this in the weeks to come, but at this stage we are very keen for volunteers who would like to help in organising the day. Our recent Christmas celebration day and our Opening day were beautifully organised by volunteer teams, and it would be great to achieve this again. There’s always a bit to do in readiness for these special days, so if you’re willing to be part of the team this time, we definitely need you. Please get in touch.
Don’t forget too, I’d really appreciate any little anecdote or photo (group shot or action shot) you’re willing to share from your Bowl experiences.
Happy hitting!
