Division 2 played Anglesea in a must win match at a reconfigured Lonsdale.  Needing a solid win to keep our finals hopes alive, the team came away with a solid 5 ½ to 1 ½ win.

Peter Meyer made a successful return to the team after playing golf in Scotland and Tasmania, with a solid 4/3 win. Todd Morgan, despite not being 100 % fit played a great match, winning 1 up with several holes being halved with birdies.  Steve McNamara had to dig deep to grind out a hard fought win on the 18th.

Greg Bishop threw in a couple of highlights (?), managing to halve the first after 4 in a bunker, followed up by long breaking eagle putt on the 4th to get his nose in front. His match went down to the wire, with a half being an appropriate result in a match that was tight all day. Cam Bowers played his usual solid game, highlighted by birdies on the 7th/16th both times around, to win 3/2.

Doug Parkin continued his solid form to win 2/1, our only loss came from Matt McFarlane who is sure to bounce back next week.

Final round for division 2 is against Colac at Portarlington. To make the final we need a big win and for some upsets in the 13th Beach vs East Geelong match.

Division 3 played fellow finals contender Barwon Valley at Torquay. The team went down 4 ½ to 2 ½ with several contests going down to the wire.

Marty Chaffey continued his winning form, with  a good 2 and 1 win. Tom Dunkin’s match went down the 18th, with both players having eagle putts. With Tom’s first putt rolling well past the hole his opponent closed out the match. This came after some serious bad luck for Tom on the 17th, with his ball bouncing off a sprinkler head, despite which he still managed to halve the hole.

After a rough start Wayne Marendaz fought back to lead, but with multiple birdies in the closing stretch his opponent managed to half their match. Chris Henderson returned to the winners list with a very good win. After getting behind early, a big run of winning holes saw him lead comfortably at the turn and finish with a 4 and 3 win.

Steve Cadby , Bernie Ryan and Connor McKee all had losses, Steve got himself back into the match after a slow start but was unable to get there.

Next week we need a win against Ocean Grove at Geelong to make the final, and for Torquay and Barwon Valley to not halve their matches.

Good luck to both teams, hopefully things will go our way and we will get at least one team to the final.
