Ian Collings
Foundation member (1970).
In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Ian spent many hours planting couch grass and runners around the course.
Member General Committee and House Committee for some 4 years during mid 70’s
Handicapper 5 years.
President Geelong and District Golf Assoc. 1991-1992
Vice president of GDGA 1989-1990, 1993-1994.
2007 – Present, Volunteer to Ground staff.
Elected to represent members on ALC 2015-2019.
Currently compiling CGC 50th Anniversary history book covering past 25 years.
A well-respected member who is passionate about CGC past present and in the future.
Bernie Den Besten
Joined 1974
Committee member 1980-1992 Chairperson House and Bar Committee.
Vice-Captain Bar 1989-1992
Bar manager
Committee member 2013-2018
Club Vice-Captain 2015-2016
Club Captain 2017-2018.
2009-present Volunteer to Ground Staff 2 days/week.
Well respected member who has nurtured and encouraged new members to feel welcomed.
Always available to put his hand up when volunteers are asked to help organise event days/functions etc.
Excellent negotiator on member issues/behaviour when required.
Greg Bishop
Joined CGC 1975 as a Junior member. Played Junior Pennant 1975-1980
Adult Member since 1983.
Member of Committee of management 2006-2015.
Club Vice-Captain 2009-2012
Club Captain 2013-2016.
Geelong and District Association Curlewis Delegate -6 years.
Member GDGA Committee – 4 years
Strong involvement in Men’s Pennant management and play.
Passion for Junior Golf. Often seen playing with our budding Juniors ensuring their commitment to course etiquette and rules maintained.
2007 – present Volunteer to Ground Staff 2 days/week.
Due to our current environment we are unable to formally acknowledge these 3 men and will plan to do so at The Presentation Night.
